“Close your eyes? Now try remembering display ads”. The arguments against display ads is pretty strong. But calling it a brand awareness black hole rings like a rhetoric. Throwing display ads out of the plan would be like throwing the baby out with the bath water. Display ads have delivered the goods at the fag end of the sales funnel, given the brand has proper fulfillment mechanism online. Would like to hear more on this from the other digital folks out there.
