Bought back memories from the other day. When all our folks gathered every Saturday for the Kirtan. The jhals and dholak rising to a frenzied crescendo. It was pure Bhojpuri Heavy Metal. What with the furious headbanging. The “Jiye! Jiye”. The Holiya, the Chaitha, the Birha. Alas! The talent, zest and fun went out with the last generation.
